My Role

As an UI/UX Manager, I have headed the user research and competitive analysis, wireframes and scope. Am responsible to validate the scalability of the UI, use-cases in a 4-week sprint.

Objective:

  1. Create a seamless registration process for the users

  2. Reduce the friction and drop off between different steps in user registration

Moreover, I would like to reduce friction and increase user registration for better business growth.

Design Process:

7-Stage Design thinking model has been used. The stages of this Design Thinking process are as follows:

  • Empathize

  • Define

  • Ideate

  • Prototype

  • Test

  • Development

  • Tracking A/B test

Design Toolkit:

  • Adobe Illustrator

  • Adobe XD

  • Lookback

  • Useberry

  • Moengage and mCRM for tracking

User Research:

This conducted research is more into the known pain-points of our existing users. Digging down for the actual problem is the key priority for us. Based on the events and metrics we find that users are not very familiar with the password driven login or sign-up. Whereas on the other hand fin-tech apps and UPI apps are having an easy process.

We looked into various easy and simple registration process keeping our TG on mind.

Competitor Analysis:

We looked into the majority of competitor startup flows like Kredit Bee, Slice,Money tap etc and they have Email as well as mobile no. based registration. Banks usually prod users to create a pin or password for their account creation

User Feedback:

Our target audience are the 2nd and 3rd tier of the Indian population, so keeping in mind the technology barrier and advance smart-phone accessibility they usually face.

- No Fingerprint login.
- mPin is very similar to a password but small and easy to remember.
- Login via OTP is the most chosen option by the users.
- Direct Gmail login is the quickest one.

User Persona:

After combining the data and feedback from the respondents along with the analysis of other apps, 2 user personas have been created based on the pain-points in the current and prototype versions and their expectations.

User Flow:

Based on the use cases and feedback we created the Password-less OTP flow for the registration module,
to make a better and easy experience for all users.

- Signup

  • Mobile Number OTP verification + Google signup

  • Via Mobile Number OTP verification

  • Google sign-in

Lo-Fi Wireframing:

After sketching out our wireframes,
we moved into Figma and created lo-fidelity wireframes.

Following the user journey map, we chose a single ‘happy journey’ and mapped out the different designs.

Design System:

We considered our design system to add consistency, structure and communication across all team members and the app interface. We chose a simple readable humanist typeface that would improve reading legibility at both small and large sizes. The colour palette is mature yet modern and has good contrast.

We also implemented icons and friendly illustrations/Json Animation to bring some fun and enjoyment to the feature.
